Great Mexican restaurant. Food was great and for a good price

The service was good. The staff were very polite. The food was fresh and delicious.

Up there with San Jose and it takes alot for me to say that.

The is a traditional Mexican restaurant with a seafood focus. You can get fried fish, catfish or shrimp in your dishes. Overall the food is fresh and tasty but the I've had much better in Lexington. If Mexican seafood is your thing you would probably like it.

It was late and needed to grab something to eat. My usual restaurant was closed. Decided to stop by this place for the first time. First I saw the lady who took my order wipe something off her hands with a napkin that was in the trash can. Not sure if she wash them afterwards. Got my food and it tasted horrible. The steak had a spoiled tasted to it. Piled on top of it was a bunch of uncooked onions, a piece of chicken; I think, shrimp with the tail on(??) and melted cheese. It was $17.00 mess that went in the garbage!

Fantastic! Best Mexican food in Lexington/West Columbia.. This restaurant actually takes the time to buy higher quality products then you see at your average Mexican restaurant in this area.. And because of this, the food is delicious.. Also whoever is cooking the food knows what they're doing and puts great care into presenting their dishes..The prices are also economical.. Everything we have tried has been great and the customer service has been even better - they couldn't do enough for us.. We have been coming here for a few years now and its always been consistently great...Highly recommend!

I've never had a bad meal here, i come often. We also order to go when at work down the street at the fire station.

Great food and service. Very clean. Reasonably priced. Not my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, but it will be worth visiting again.

Excellent service! Excellent social distancing! Excellent chicken fajitas for 2 at an excellent price. I had water with a slice of lemon to drink and the water tasted excellent didn't have that normal west columbia chlorine taste. I tried to get coffee and they didn't have any. All servers had face masks on the disposable kind. Plenty of parking available and not very crowded. First time I was to a restraunt in the dining area in months. I felt safe! We went to another restraunt before that and didn't go in as it was to crowded.

The food was a decent price, but the food quality was nothing to brag about. Music was so loud that you couldn't talk much to the people at the table. Also, the salsa was really sweet, like super sweet. I won't be back.

Maybe I got the wrong thing but I figured enchiladas aren’t that yard to make. My food had absolutely no flavor. I had to load it with salt and pepper so I could taste something. The salsa was way to chunky and tasted like straight up lime. The queso was watery and the sweet tea tasted like it hardly had any sugar in it. The service was fast and friendly but the food was not great at all. I guess it’s worth it if your in a rush and just really craving Mexican, otherwise I’d recommend driving further down the road to another restaurant

Loved it!! Went with what the waitress recommended, & she was sooo right!We got there around 9:30...they close at 10..but they welcomed us in. Great food, even better service!

Better than ANY Mexican food in South Carolina better then San Jose

The food and service were excellent! I will say that it is a bit pricey and definitely WARM in there, but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! I wish I wouldve taken pics of the main courses but I only got pics of the crab and the ceviche... A couple of tips: 1. the salsa IS sweet, but order the green salsa too.. the flavor is amazing and it packs a heck of a heat punch! Both salsas mixed together were so good! 2. Get their homemade chelada with Corona... Not on The drink menu but it's excellent! 3. Any seafood you get, ask for a side of their melted butter.. it's the best I've ever had! 4. The portions are HUGE.. take that into consideration when thinking of the prices. You can very well feed 2-3 people of one meal if you order the right things! We will definitely be back!

Went for lunch at the recommendation of a coworker. Started out good, chips & salsa were tasty. Food arrived, looked delicious. I got the ceviche, which tasted absolutely spot on...until I found a whole german cockroach in my food. I put it on a napkin and asked for a manager, was told there was none on duty. Server took the napkin, showed it to the bartender & the cook, and that was it. Offered to show us the certificate from their recent bug spraying, said it happens, tried to make excuses. No apology, nothing. Party of six, we all walked out. Just so happened 2 guys from Terminix were OTW in while we were leaving. I told them what happened, to which they responded "not out contract", shrugged, and sat down.

My boyfriend and are junkies when it comes to Mexican food. We have tried ALOT of places and we get food that’s decent. But this food...IS SPECTACULAR! We will be moving to the area soon and can not wait to visit weekly! I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know.

The salsa was too sweet for me . I just didn't care for it. The other food we tried was good though!

We came down to Columbia for roller derby and stopped by for lunch. My fiancee had the 3 Amigo's and I had the Shrimp Cocktail and they were both phenomenal. This is truly authentic Hispanic food. You will not be disappointed.

top notch Mexican food! Go-to dish is the burrito California with chicken. If you're looking for a spot for Cinco de Mayo, look no further!

Food was very good and the margaritas are awesome. I dont normally drink them but a friend recommended the place for their drinks so had to try. Well worth it for sure.

This place was really good! Food was fresh with big portions! The chips were freshly made as well as the salsa! And the staff very friendly! They are right next to the barnyard flea market. Check 'em out!

The food is delicious. We ordered 7 mares for four and have plenty of leftovers. To much more like dinner for 6-8. It was worth every penny. Waitress from Venezuela kept checking in on us she was a delight!!

Flipping Awesome. The seafood in Veracruz sauce made my husband feel like he was IN Mexico. The other restaurants around here don't come close. Portions are Huge; seafood is fresh and the prices are fair for what you get. We'll be back.P.S. Yea, the salsa is sweet. If that's the only thing you don't like, get over it.

Would loved to have eaten here tonight but they had a guy singing so loud we could hear him in our car, and he was not good either. We went in anyway, but it was so loud we could not order, speak to each other or think. It's fine to have music, but use common sense!!

Best authentic Mexican food in the Columbia area

Great portions, cheaper and better tasting than local Mexican establishments. Drinks came out in seconds and food not much longer. Only downside is it's in a strip mall and not very noticeable. You have to try for yourself. I'll see you there. ***So after coming back several times I have now started tackling their traditional seafood menu. Wow the flavor of these dishes are heaven. Some of the dishes for 2 can be made for one and is a must try! Their soup base is some of the best seafood soup base I have ever had. Also try their charro beans. Yum!!!

Beyond excellent service, and with a smile the whole time. Food was great, but it's the service that will bring me back.

I like that they have different dishes and traditional Mexican cousine. And I liked the margarita as well.

Ordered chili poblano, received chili relleno. Told waitress it wasn't what I expected: no offer to correct. Poor service

We had a birthday party for my niece here tonight and it was actually better than I expected after reading other reviews. There were 7 people in our party and, other than the food coming out of the kitchen at different times, all of our meals were wonderful. I ordered the Fajitas Texas (?) but was a little disappointed in the amount of shrimp (only received 4 shrimpy shrimp). One other meal came out without ANY meat on it (unfortunately, this was the birthday girls' dinner) but they took it back and made a fresh plate as quickly as possible. Again, the food was great and the service was very attentive for the most part. It was our waitress' first night and she did an excellent job! Had the kitchen been a little more on their game I would probably have given them 5 stars. If you haven't been to The 7 Mares Mexican Restaurant please give it a try. At such low prices you won't lose much out of pocket if you don't like it.
